You know, I had plans for January.
I’d pre-written enough blogposts to get me through January (and then some)… and (in my plan) that was going to give me the ability to use all my normal bits-and-pieces of writing time, plus the 10 days off school at the front of January, to write some novellas I’ve been dreaming up for more than 2 years. Twice, in NaNoWriMo 2012 and 2013, I have written 50,000+ words in a month, easy, even while homeschooling. So I figured, two novellas, each at 20-25,000 words… yup, I should be able to manage that.
Ha ha!
The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps. ~Proverbs 16:9
I got over 7,000 words written January 1st. A great start!
And then on January 2nd, my daughter had her sledding accident and the next 5 days were in the hospital with her, and then the days after that have been spent in various ways… getting back to some semblance of normal… getting my mom from the airport… and taking care of other normal family/church commitments.
Since January 1, I’ve not written another word in that novella. Instead of the wordsmithy January I had planned, I’ve had a completely different sort of January.
And right now, I think what I need most is just to be quiet. So that’s what I’m gonna do. Not sure for how long.
I’ll still be posting archived articles and favorite articles to my Facebook page.
For now, I’m enjoying the silence of hunkering down with the people I love and just being here in the moment.
I have never in my life stopped writing altogether, so I don’t anticipate that this is a “goodbye forever” moment. However, for many years now, I’ve written and shared multiple articles a week… and so, since I won’t be doing that for the foreseeable future, I want to be up front:
This is me, purposefully hitting the “pause” button.
God bless you all!
