Hi there. I’m Jess Connell.

I write to help moms accurately evaluate themselves, their relationships, and their homes, so that they can live with fierce, well-rested God-confidence.

Here are some things you might want to know about me–

  • Doug is my husband of 15 years. I love him like crazy. We still work to continually turn toward each other. He’s a Pastor & we love our church.
  • We’ve got 7 kiddos (yes, seven. They’re ages 13 down to a year old). Yup it’s hard and yup it’s good.
  • I’m a read-aloud-loving, build-my-own-curriculum, curiosity-chasing home educator. 
  • Writing oozes out of me. And so I choose to offer the thing that has helped me most when other women have shared with me– insights about mothering. I think parenting goes better when we understand biblical love and authority, and I write to spur moms toward biblical, anxiety-free, forward-thinking, God-confident mothering.
  • I also like to write about having good sex in marriage, because so few people talk about it. I think it should be a super-fun, significant, God-honoring part of our marriages.
WE’VE SEEN GOD’S FAITHFULNESS THROUGH HARD THINGS

We’ve moved around the world multiple times and now live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. We’re in our 13th home in 15 years of marriage. I understand the difficulties of being Mom and homemaker amidst great stress and exhaustion. God has used the pressures and storms of life to shape me and shave off some ugly places in my heart.

  • Our first week of married life included our wedding and my father-in-law’s funeral.
  • We’ve experience moves, miscarriages, career changes, job loss, and sickness.
  • I’ve seen my husband collapse, twice, and battled uncertainty and fear for 5 years while waiting for answers about what had happened.
  • Many of these hard things have come while handling the normal pressures of family life with lots of kiddos.

God has– in every circumstance– proven Himself utterly faithful, trustworthy, and true. He always brings beauty from ashes.

Though I thought I was really going places (and I was), those dreams have all been taken over by something much different– and much better– than I planned. I’ve learned that He writes the best adventures with our lives.

Beyond what I’ve written here, you need to know, and I need to remember: there is not just sin in my past– there is sin in my heart. I’ve needed the grace of God again and again in my life & am so grateful for His goodness. (Want to know more about that? Here’s the ugly truth about Jess Connell.)
